Along the Swan River

(27 KMs)

Wednesday 6th November

Albany - Fremantle

We made sure we were at the bus stop a little early so Simon could remove the wheels from the bikes and I could visit the cafes we had found on our wanders the day before for lunch provisions.  The planned 30 minute lunch break at a Burk Truck stop did not appeal as a place to eat.  It was a 6 hour journey to East Perth and we were pleased with our lunch choices.

Simon soon had the front wheels back on the bike, and we headed off towards Fremantle, picking up the Swan River and some very impressive, if undulating, bike paths.  The wind was gusting strongly so we travelled a little slower than anticipated before arriving at our very comfortable Airbnb in East Fremantle.  We dropped off our gear and walked up to the nearby shopping centre to buy dinner provisions as well as some snacks for our planned trip to Rottnest Island.  Our hostess had assured us that the Rottnest bakery did good rolls and jam donuts.
