The aim of our rest day was to take our time exploring Colmar so we wandered out mid morning to visit the tourist office and pick up a walking map. There was lots to look at, including shops decorated with roosters and watering cans. Most impressive was the House of Heads, decorated with over 100 masks, and the Pfister house, built in the 16th century for a Besancon hatter, painted with scenes from the old and new testaments. continued...
We had enjoyed our day cycling to Colmar along along the Veloroute du Vignoble and decided to explore a little more of the area rather than spend a day in Strasbourg as originally planned. We boarded the Strasbourg train with our bikes, finding them a nice spot in first class, where we lifted them onto the bike hooks, and stood with them for the 11-minute journey to Selestat. continued...
