It was a showery morning so we departed in our rain coats, hoping that the day would improve. Sure enough, by the time we reached Meersburg we were able to remove our rain coats and also pick up some pastries for morning tea. We retraced our route from yesterday before heading north at Immenstaad following quiet country roads and generally heading uphill.
Morning tea options were limited, though Simon found a little park with a gravel pit and picnic bench. We passed through little villages and open farmland though saw few cyclists.
We stopped for lunch in a park in Ravensberg and spent a few kilometres cycling beside busy roads before reaching the countryside again. Soon after we passed an open area with random silhouettes of people and a bridge that went nowhere, though had a nice view at the top.
Soon we could see mountains in the distance and then met the Xingles, Lissy on the Ball and Skateboard and Tom. The sculptures were designed by Ernst-Reinhart Bohling to address the joy of play and movement in a growing society of singles. The X stands for unknown. After a brief descent, with nice views, we emerged onto a canal which we followed for a few kilometres before picking up the road again to Bad Waldsee.
Our accommodation was attached to a pizza shop and overlooked a large outdoor eating area. Fortunately, it was temporarily closed as it would have been extremely noisy. It was also close to the entrance to town and we walked through the imposing city gate into the old town centre. The pedestrianised streets were lined with half-timbered houses, shops and cafes and the impressive Helig-Geist-Spital, the Holy Spirit Hospital.
We detoured down to the city lake where walkers were enjoying a late afternoon promenade before returning to our accommodation via the supermarket.
