Views to Lundy

Saturday 15th March

Exmoor

Unfortunately, Ron had been violently ill during the night so he and Bryony headed home.  With Cadi and Sticky in their crate and ready for a walk, we drove out to the Exmoor coast and parked at Woody Bay.  The walk followed the South West Coast path past 100 year old sessile oak trees and bright yellow gorse bushes.  Though a cool 8 degrees, it was a gloriously clear day and we could see across the Bristol Channel to South Wales.  Looking back along the cliffs towards Linton we could see the Valley of the Rocks.

We made our way along the Heddon Valley to the Hunters inn and ordered tea from the National Trust café, which we enjoyed with our packed lunch in the picnic area overlooking the river. We followed the river to Heddons Mouth before climbing up to the headland with its views towards Lundy Island before following the lower coast path back to the car.

Simon and I were on dinner duty and cooked Nagi’s Tuscan Chicken pasta bake.  Without Bryony and Ron for dinner, there was plenty left for the following night as well.
