The route out of Palinges offered views that were reminiscent of the Devon hills. We cycled through farmland dotted with the odd large farmhouse before reaching Saint Vallier where we bought morning tea and lunch supplies. The water tower on the way out of town was painted with an interesting seascape, including a turtle and crab.
After a quick detour via the supermarket in Montceau-les-Mines for lunch supplies before closing time, we found a park with a view over a little lake and a distant chateau in the hills for a late morning tea and a couple of calls home.
We continued along Canal du Centre with its scenic bridges before stopping at Saint-Julien-sur-Dhuene at a little park with benches on the edge of the canal. We passed through a few little villages before reaching our Airbnb accommodation at Remigny.
