It was meant to be a full day on the Munda Biddi trail, so we made a reasonably early start to allow plenty of time. The Village was very busy, with lots of kids on bikes and feeding the animals, and a group of Bibbulmun track walkers were comparing notes on the cafe verandah.
It was lovely riding along the wide dirt tracks and we made good time. The track was undulating and clearly marked. It then narrowed to more uphill single track and my pace dropped accordingly. We passed some unladen cyclists coming the other way and one of them warned of the challenging hills later on.
We reached One Tree Bridge and admired its remains before stopping for our morning coffee and an early lunch overlooking the Donnelly River. A close look at the map highlighted the short, steep switchbacks ahead of us and we opted to stay on the quiet main road. Eventually we turned off to pick up the Munda Biddi again as it made its way through Deanmills with its workers club and interesting sculptures before reaching Manjimup and the Kingsley Motel, our accommodation for the evening.
We checked in and headed into town as I wanted to visit the Hound and Hunter deli and test kitchen. It specialises in truffle products but we settled for carrot cake and Yuzu soda, promising to return for lunch provisions tomorrow. We then followed the main road into town which was quiet and deserted, stopping briefly at Coles for breakfast supplies before returning to the motel via the Linear Path - an unused rail corridor that has been turned into a cycle path.
