A day on the ferry

It was wet as we waited for the ferry, having purchased a hop on/hop off ticket for the day.  We took the ferry to its end point at the Noosa Marina in Tewantin and walked to the CBD for an excellent coffee at Café Ritual.  

The Noosa Regional Gallery was free to enter, and we explored the three little exhibitions.  The Australian Ceramics Association: Continuum had some beautiful pieces and we amused ourselves by deciding which we would buy if we could.  The Matchbox Show transformed hundreds of matchboxes into miniature display cases, whilst the Fabrizio Biviano: Colourful Language exhibition comprised small paintings of squeezed paint tubes.

The sun was out when we emerged from the Gallery and we made our way back to the marina where we explored the little shops whilst waiting for the 12noon ferry to take us back to Gympie Terrace. It was lovely sitting on the top deck and enjoying expansive views whilst Captain Jono played Puff the Magic Dragon on the loud speaker.  

We had made a last-minute booking for lunch at Gusto, a French restaurant on the riverfront, and were delighted with our front row seat.  We opted for the two or three-course Winter Series Taste of France which came with a glass of wine.  The food was excellent and we shared a sticky date pudding for dessert.  

It was a leisurely walk back to the jetty for the next ferry into Hastings Street where we made our way to Noosa Spit along a path which wound its way through bushland and past innumerable car parks. The head of the river was very choppy and we explored a few of the tracks to varying points along the river. We returned to catch the 4:30 ferry, departing with a rainbow visible over the town.  This was our fourth ferry of the day, and despite there being two ferries in operation, we had the same ferry each time.  Captain Jono fancied himself a bit of an entertainer but his jokes (and his music) were wearing a bit thin by the time we disembarked.
