With better weather forecast we returned to Welshpool and set off on the rail trail towards Meeniyan. The coffee in Toora, just 12 kilometres down the trail was an improvement on the previous day’s and the clouds began to lift as we left the town.
The sun was out by the time we cycled the 12 kms to Foster, our lunch spot and Simon’s turnaround point. We enjoyed our toasted sandwiches and I treated myself to a delicious chocolate thick shake, to give me energy for the climb ahead.
Back on the trail we parted ways and as I made my way up the steady incline to Fish Creek, I appreciated the stunning views of Wilsons Promontory.
Fish Creek station was a pleasant stop for a rest, with its teapot sculpture and a train made of garden beds. I passed the sculpture garden on the way out of town and the climb continued for another couple of kilometres before gradually descending into Meeniyan.
Simon was waiting in the car park having managed his return cycle to Welshpool and a quick shop in Foster.
