Back at Meeniyan again, this time to continue the Great Southern rail trail to Loch. Heading out of town we passed a community garden. We crossed the Tarim River bridge which ran alongside the old disused trestle bridge which had partially collapsed. At Koonwarra we stopped for a leisurely coffee on the verandah of Milly and Romeo’s.
The trail led us through rolling hills to Leongatha, which was our lunch stop. Simon then headed back to the car at Meeniyan whilst I continued onto Loch. I missed Simon’s navigation skills as I struggled to find the trail out of Leongatha as it stopped at a main road. A kindly local pointed me in the right direction and I was soon starting the steady climb to Korumburra.
It was a pretty ride and whilst the gradient wasn’t too steep, I was pleased to reach Korumburra and enjoy a cold drink and a quick explore of the main street. Simon messaged to share the granola options available at Leongatha Woolies. I had left the bike locked outside the Burra Pantry and Larder which fortunately had a better selection.
I enjoyed the downhill run into Loch, stopping briefly to check out Hilda Falls, which was on our list of places to visit. It was completely dry so we could tick that off our list.
Simon was at the airbnb when I arrived and we had time for a rest and a shower before heading out to lovely dinner at Loch and Key, a few hundred metres down the road.
