A genuine rest day

Located on a large acreage, we felt assured of privacy, and were surprised to see a truck appear.  It turned out it was the local operator doing his quarterly inspection of the septic system.  He clearly enjoyed a chat and told us about his recent business expansion and daily inspection routine.  

We had a leisurely morning before cycling 6kms into Nanango for lunch at the bakery. Nearby was a statue of Seven Mile Peter, named after Peter Rossiter, a Ukranian immigrant  who lived and prospected at the Seven Mile Diggings near Nanango. He supported his gold diggings by growing vegetables and raising poultry which he sold in Nanango.   

Given its meaning as “Place where the Waters Gather”, we thought we should explore a little and find a place in the sun to enjoy our strawberries, ideally near some water.  We found a picnic table in Pioneer Park near an overgrown stream and a small pond.

Back at our accommodation, we explored the grounds with its picturesque dam and collections of little animals and artworks.
