A leisurely start with a wander around the village and brunch at the Loch Village food store. Though not very big, Loch had a lot to offer with boutique shops, cafes, a brewery and wine bar.
It was still overcast as we took the trail for the short 5.5km ride to Nyora, the end of the rail trail. We passed the Loch railway station building which was originally located in Welshpool and enjoyed the easy ride into Nyora.
On the way back we detoured via the suspension bridge which was built over Allsops Creek in 2000 as a tribute to the local servicemen and women.
To earn our savoury scones for lunch we climbed the 1.5kms up to Cape Horn lookout. There were lovely views over the hills though the low cloud meant that we couldn’t see the coast.
Mid-afternoon we adjourned to the Loch Brewery and Distillery afternoon where Simon tried their pale ale which he found a little too bitter for his liking.
Later we headed out to dinner at the Winey Bear, clearly a family-run operation as the older kids served the meals and babysat the younger ones. The pizza was excellent as was the local non-alcoholic Gurneys cider.
