With 60km southerly wind gusts forecast, we knew it was going to be a slow ride along the Coast Path to Caloundra. Fortunately, we didn’t have to worry about possible showers and we enjoyed the views across the Mooloolah River and the excellent cycle path.
Soon we were following the path along Buddina beach then along Currimundi Lake, stopping at Coco’s by the Lake for a nice coffee and delicious muffins. The route along the lake was well protected from the wind. Continuing south, the headwind made for slow going and it was hard to generate any speed on the winding path.
It was busy on the path through Caloundra but we persevered and soon the path opened out with views across to Bribie Island and we made our way to the very end and the little streets of Pelican Waters.
We retraced our route and enjoyed fish and chips for lunch on the waterfront, with seagulls and pelicans to keep us company. At least the wind was now behind us, though the winding path with its weekend walkers meant that we still had a relatively slow trip home.
